Freedom Wheels
by Kate Maxon – long time resident of Lillooet, retired rancher, great-grandmother, singer-songwriter, poet, warrior.
The trucks rolled out of the West
and the South and North and East
These were stalwart hearts; the best!
and they came to confront the beast
Hundreds of thousands stood side by side
waving the convoy on
These people knew what they had to lose
and gave support from dusk to dawn
Trucks and cars and tractors, too
made the Capital their destination
They’d give everything they had and then some
to save Freedom for our Nation
Oh, but they were sorely maligned
called ‘terrorists’ and a ‘fringe group’ too
An old woman stomped by a foreign horse
that’s what they got for defending Truth
A good excuse to come down hard
on everyone unafraid to speak or stand
Keep them strangled and dragged through courts
in what was once a promising land
But Freedom will ring loud and clear
and the perpetrators scurry to flee
A critical mass is forming now
and the Truth shall set us Free

Media Malfunction
by Kate Maxon
Funny how we always thought
the MEDIA was giving legitimate news
We didn’t know how they’d been bought
and were giving their buyers’ views
But it’s come out and now we know
the “mainstream” we cannot trust
They’re rife with “woke” propaganda
while they leave the truth to rust
On every channel the “talking heads”
have the exact same narrative to deliver
No opposing view is brought to bear
No light shed on the darkest corner
When folks aren’t allowed the solid truth
or to see opposing sides of a situation
How can we make decisions wisely
on matters affecting us; our province,
our nation?
And funny, isn’t it?
The time wasted bashing a foreign leader
cluttering the mind of listener or reader
While all the while our own ….
are leading us down a path to disaster

A Hazard to Our Health
by Kate Maxon
Good health and welfare
Comes at a cost
There is nothing that is “free”
And we must stand strong
Before all is lost
Can’t afford to “wait and see”
Communities have joined together
Raised much for equipment and supplies
Only to have small hospitals plundered
Eventually leading to their demise
How is it this has happened?
When we people pay the bill
Isn’t it the same as stealing?
The very thought brings on a chill
When the centre of help is far from home
The home-folk begin to suffer
For lengthy time and travel far
There really is no buffer
And when the “authorities”
Are merely corporations
It’s oh! so simple to pass the buck
No responsibility and seldom reparations
